We understand that last minute changes to student numbers can occur. An email will be sent following your visit to confirm numbers. We will accept ±10% change in the numbers listed on this form.
- START TIME
All activities start at 10.45am, please ensure you are on site by 10.00am
- CANCELLATIONS
Cancellation fees apply if we have not been informed by 3.30pm on the Monday directly prior to your booking.
- WEATHER
We are an all-weather venue. Programs will only be cancelled in accordance with our Emergency Management Policy, available on request. On wet weather days programs will be run under cover where possible. If schools have concerns about weather on the day they must speak to a member of Coal Creek staff on 5655 1811 to establish what the weather is like on site. Email cancellations on the day of the visit will be charged at the full rate.
- RISK ASSESMENTS
Coal Creek Education Programs have a current risk assessment, available on request. Schools are encouraged to produce their own risk assessments. We highly recommend you visit the site before bringing students.
- STUDENTS MANAGEMENT
Teachers are responsible for their students at all times. Students must be with a supervising adult at all times.
Health and Safety briefing for visiting Educational Parties
Whilst on site teachers and accompanying adults are responsible for their students at ALL times and ensure students adhere to our code of conduct, see below. Ratio required 2:25. One teacher and another adult per activity group.
Schools are responsible for any first aid that students may require and MUST bring a first aid kit and have a designated first aider. Coal Creek has designated first aid officers if required.
If you require an Ambulance, do call triple 0 (000) and do your best to notify a member of staff so that we can assist the ambulance in coming to you as the front desk is often the first point of call for the emergency services.
A lead teacher needs to be appointed and acknowledged on the booking form. This member of staff is responsible for explaining all health and safety matters regarding your visit to ALL supervising adults.
Emergency evacuation procedure
You will hear the emergency warning siren.
- Remain calm.
- Please take your students promptly to the nearest EMERGENCY SAFE ASSEMBLY area.
- If a member of your party is missing. Please advise a member of staff immediately.
- DO NOT UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES RE-ENTER THE PARK. You must wait for the all clear from the Chief Warden.
When onsite the lead teacher must provide a contactable mobile phone number for your group.
COAL CREEK CODE OF CONDUCT
This Code of Conduct sets out our expectations, to ensure a safe and enjoyable learning experience when visiting Coal Creek Community Park and Museum.
Everyone at Coal Creek Community Park and Museum from the general public, staff, volunteers, visiting students, teachers and parents have the right;
- to be safe from physical, verbal and emotional abuse.
- to enjoy Coal Creek Community Park and Museum free from harassment and bullying.
- to be treated with respect and courtesy and expect that their property will be treated with respect.
Coal Creek staff and volunteers will:
- respect visiting school students and teachers and behave towards them with professionalism, courtesy and helpfulness at all times.
Supervising teachers and adults of school groups are responsible for:
- always maintaining close supervision of the students in their care and providing an example of appropriate behaviours.
- ensuring they are contactable by Coal Creek staff throughout their visit by providing a contact name and mobile phone number, and that the mobile phone is on during the visit.
- ensuring this Code of Conduct is communicated to all students in their care and supervising adults, to ensure it is respected, encouraging students to take responsibility for their behaviour.
- mobile phones are turned to silent, and their use does not disturb the learning of students.
Students visiting Coal Creek are responsible for:
- moving around Coal Creek Community Park and Museum in a way that ensures their own safety and the safety of others.
- respecting the Coal Creek’s collection and the property of others.
- following the lawful instructions of Coal Creek staff and volunteers.
- treating everyone with respect and refraining from aggressive behaviours.
- enjoying the learning experience at Coal Creek and allowing others to do the same.
Coal Creek has the right to ask anyone to leave who is not following this code of conduct.
Visiting schools will be responsible for supervising anyone directed to leave. No refund will be made.
