2021 Virtual Literary Festival
In Conversation With…
Special Announcement –
This year’s Coal Creek Literary Festival will be presenting to a world-wide audience. Instead of the usual one-day festival in October, which has been run at Coal Creek for the past 12 years, this year’s event will be showcased online.
Similar to our 2020 Monthly Author in Focus, and with the support of Coal Creek and South Gippsland Shire, we will be bringing you our Coal Creek Literary Festival 2021 – In Conversation With…, which will be uploaded to the Coal Creek website, Youtube and Facebook for the general public to view and enjoy each month for the rest of this year. The festival committee feel that this will bypass any uncertainty re COVID-19, where a lockdown is possible at any time.
A big bonus of this year’s format is that instead of the usual 8-12 authors, it will be possible to showcase over 20 authors. The short story and poetry writing competitions were run this year, with entries closing on Friday October 1 .
The Literary Festival Committee
The 2021 Coal Creek Literary Festival Writing Competitions, comprising the Bert van Bedaf Memorial Short Story Prize and the Open Poetry Prize, have now been judged. Congratulations to the winners, and a big thank you to all of our entrants for your wonderfully creative and often moving stories and poems – you made the judges’ job really difficult!
